Originally from Houston, TX, Margot Gelber began her training as a competitive gymnast. She then attended the High School for Performing and Visual Arts, where she began her choreographic pursuits. She went on to further her dance training and choreographic endeavors at The Boston Conservatory under the direction of Yasuko Tokunaga and Cathy Young. Upon graduating from the Conservatory, she joined Ate9 Dance Company in Los Angeles, California.

In 2014, Gelber was commissioned to set her work "In finite space" as the inaugural presentation of The Boston Conservatory Dance Division's Alumni Commissioning Project. Gelber’s work has been featured in various prestigious dance festivals nationally and internationally, including The San Francisco Conservatory of Dance Summer Dance Series (2016), The Boston Contemporary Dance Festival (2014, 2017), The Austin Dance Festival (2016, 2022), The Seaside Dance Festival (2017), Sizzling Summer Dance Series (2015), The Southern California Ballet Gala (2016), Chop Shop Bodies of Work (2019), and more.

Margot Gelber's dedication to her craft has been recognized through various accolades and programs. In addition to participating in Elizabeth Streb’s Go! Emerging Artist Program in 2014, Gelber was awarded the Houston Met Dance Emerging Choreographer in 2015 and the Bates Dance Festival Emerging Choreographer. In 2018, Gelber presented her work in Poland at the Gdanski Festival Tanca. In 2020, she premiered a new work as part of the Boston Conservatory’s Winter Works, and in 2021, her work was showcased at SoloDans Ankara in Turkey.

Margot Gelber's work continues to captivate audiences worldwide, with recent achievements including the selection and presentation of her work at the Mexico City Dance Festival in 2023 , the Jerusalem International Solo Dance Festival as well as the Jerusalem Theater.
